Victorinox products are light weight and strong. They hold a decent edge with minimal sharpening effort, and the 4" model makes a great steak knife. They aren't so heavy that they would go through your foot, if you accidentally dropped one from the counter top. They are kind of pricey for a simple steak knife or paring knife, but they do a better job than no-name brand cheap trash. Too bad they don't come in different colors - that might actually sell more knives. No more mixing of which utensil was used for which dish.

I have purchased these knives in the past for myself and decided to purchase some for my sister as a gift. They last forever and maintain their sharpness. I use mine for just about everything like dicing onions, cutting steak, slicing a tomato paper thin, etc. I purchased my first set of Victorinox kitchen knives 34 years ago and am still using them. I decided add the paring knives to my collection and love them. Great buy!

This is the best all around knife I have found for use in the kitchen. It is better than more expensive knives and holds its sharpness for years. It is especially great for pealing vegetables.

crazy sharp (watch the cutting board), very aggressive serrations, but works well with delicate fruits and vegetables. excellent value!
