When I bought my first one years ago, the company said that fiishermen used them to open shellfish and threw them away. I love that they are inexpensive, take a sharpening for quite a while and suit us both to a T. thanks. Jean

I received one of the red handled smaller knives as a gift and loved it. I ordered the black slightly longer knives for gifts and am just as impressed. Stays sharp for a long time...
