Did you know that ice water is 40 degrees F? There is no way to calibrate these thermometers. When ran through the dishwasher, the color changing strip changed color to indicate that the internal temperature had reached a minimum of 165F, but the theremometer only registered 156F. I purchased two, and both had the exact same readings for the dishwasher and for the ice water. I can't use these in my kitchen. They were a huge waste of money.
